This Former Gang-Banger Is Banging Out Delicious Cubans in Cambodia

S ix years ago, Ry Mam boarded an international flight from LAX with three other Cambodians and two US marshals. “If any of you try to run, we’ll shoot you,” one of the marshals told the Cambodians. Mam thought that was strange—they were on an airplane and, anyway, he could have run a long time ago.

What's new?

So now that I was able to get some complicated matters out of my life, it's giving me the time to pick up my phone and start getting this blog afloat again. But before I go on, i must warn that some of my information is based on how I perceive it not may not be entirely true. Not saying that what I write down may not help you, just saying it's straight forward and those that find my information useful are welcome to do so. For those who want to know, this blog is mainly personal experiences and mainly about places in and around Battambang. Since I've not been writing for a while, a lot of my information may be incorrect and I would like to apologize for that. I will be updating old places and adding new things and places that have popped up since I've been gone and trust me, lots of things have popped up giving our foreign friends more to do while passing through this nice country side town.

Skuon Spider market in Cambodia

Eating spiders might be something that normal folks wouldn't like to try but here in Cambodia, it could be considered normal. From what I have heard, these spiders are a treat to local Khmer's and many that have tried them say that their not bad.  By looking at this video, you would think that this would be something out of the show Fear Factor but I have tried many custom foods while being here and I can say that they were all pleasant. So maybe if you plan to visit Cambodia soon, you can put spiders on your need to try list.

An Internet Cambodia, harness the power

In today's Cambodia, only a small percentage of the people here are using the internet for learning, while the rest use are using it for social sites like Facebook.  I friend of mine here in Battambang who is currently teaching English to middle students told me that most the kids only know the internet for Facebook and have no clue that what their using is one of the most powerful information tools on the planet. The internet has vast amounts of information making Facebook only a needle in the haystack. So why have most the students in Cambodia not taken advantage of this tool? My only thought would be that they don't care about anything else on the internet besides Facebook or they just don't know. There is not a lack of education for those wanting to learn English and many schools are popping up everyday, and only a few of them are really concerned about the students education. From my perspective, many of the schools here look at education as a form of profit and not

Beware for your pet dog

A dog can really be a mans best friend. At least that's the term we use in America. A dog can be useful in many ways. In America, dogs can be trained to do all kinds of things like helping the blind, fetching your newspaper when it comes in and even helping you consume leftover bones when done eating. Police train dogs to help them fight crime and firemen use them for searching and rescuing. So a dog can really be a best mans friend in a way if trained properly. In Cambodia, dogs are not that well looked at like they are in the states. They can guard your place one minute and end up in someones pot the next. Yep, that's right, in someones pot. The picture above is a picture I had of my little pup since he was young and now he's not with me anymore. Not because I treated him wrong but most likely do to someones  hunger for this animal. In many places here in Cambodia, dog is considered a special meal. Dog is mainly cooked and eaten when many are having a get together.

He claimed to be a soldier, but police were sceptical of his defence and are still investigating.  Kampuchea Thmey Necklace thief catches a moto he never hailed A 24-year-old was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly snatching the necklace of a young female university student in Phnom Penh’s well-heeled Tuol Kork district.
