An Internet Cambodia, harness the power

In today's Cambodia, only a small percentage of the people here are using the internet for learning, while the rest use are using it for social sites like Facebook.  I friend of mine here in Battambang who is currently teaching English to middle students told me that most the kids only know the internet for Facebook and have no clue that what their using is one of the most powerful information tools on the planet. The internet has vast amounts of information making Facebook only a needle in the haystack. So why have most the students in Cambodia not taken advantage of this tool? My only thought would be that they don't care about anything else on the internet besides Facebook or they just don't know.

There is not a lack of education for those wanting to learn English and many schools are popping up everyday, and only a few of them are really concerned about the students education. From my perspective, many of the schools here look at education as a form of profit and not about education. I have come across many university students that have studied certain majors for years to find out that they really don't even have the slightest idea what their major was about or even how to put what they learned to work. Sad isn't it?

Knowing that the education here in Cambodia lacking, students need to take the initiative and pursue more education. The world wide web is a best place to start researching certain subjects and information on a mass amounts of subjects. Many things can be learned from youtube. Different forums and news sites offer many story's and history information. There are many other sites that are willing to share this knowledge freely. So much information that i'm still surprised at the things I can learn. They say education is power to a great future and this power has been given to those who use the internet wisely. The power is in your hands, you just got to know how to use it.

Gecko Cafe In Battambang

(Updated) The Gecko has moved to street #1 and is now called The Kitchen.   Food Gecko Cafe is located on the corner of Street 3 and 119. The place sits atop Gecko Moto's. I visit this place lot's of times during my stay in Battambang and when it comes to wanting a little western taste, this is one of my favorite spots. They serve good western food including burgers, pizza, salads and more. They also have Mexican food ranging from tacos to burritos and more. The Taco salad I had last was great and reminded me of home a little. Also, being in Cambodia, you can't forget about the Khmer dishes. I haven't tried alot of Khmer food here but I can say that the fried rice was good. They also serve some alcohol drinks. Besides being a little pricey for the locals, the money you pay for food here is well worth it. So enjoy! Service Ano...

The two villains, 18 and 19, made their move after the driver had picked up a pair of foreign fares at Phnom Penh International Airport. When the teens made their move, the female passenger resisted, giving our tuk-tuk hero the chance to turn his vehicle into the thugs and send them tumbling to the ground.
