Booze and bovines: not a good mix for bikers
Colliding with a cow while biking buzzed is probably not the best way to impress your father – particularly when he’s director of the provincial department of environment. But being knocked unconscious in such an incident on Tuesday temporarily precluded a 19-year-old man in Kampong Chhnang town from worrying that his progenitor would, well, have a cow. The young man was sent to hospital, and police noted both man and beast were at fault: The teen shouldn’t have been driving while drunk, and the cow shouldn’t have been allowed to roam freely.Nokorwat

Off-key brawl puts end to upbeat tune and croon
Four men eager to showcase their solo singing talents at a Battambang town restaurant reacted rather violently to three other men hogging the stage on Tuesday. Police said the two groups had been drinking when the quartet decided they’d been subjected to the trio’s stylings for long enough. The two groups fought furiously, destroying the restaurant’s property, which distracted the owners and allowed other patrons to slip out without paying. Police arrested the three successful crooners and are hoping to arrest the four who missed out on the spotlight. Rasmey Kampuchea

Buzzcuts of different kind prove barber’s undoing
After a small drug bust in Kampong Cham town on Monday, police are hoping they’ll be able to follow the trail of meth crumbs back to a major dealer. The pair of teens arrested for carrying two packages of ya ma on Monday told police that a local barber had sold them the goods, and sure enough, police found 14 packages of meth when they raided the barber’s shop. They are looking for a woman the barber claimed was his supplier. Nokorwat

Man buries the hatchet into the back of his rival
A 24-year-old man attending a wedding in Mondulkiri province’s Keo Seima district on Tuesday learned that a grudge-bearing fellow guest had chosen not to bury the proverbial hatchet but rather to sink a literal axe into his back, seriously injuring him, while everyone was dancing. Police arrested the axe-swinger the next day. Kampuchea Thmey

Pair of prolific pilferers nabbed after break-in
Police say they arrested two prolific thieves in Siem Reap town on Monday after a shop owner said they had broken in at night and stolen all sorts of goods. The two suspects, aged 17 and 20, confessed and said they had make similar break-ins before, selling their loot to farmers at cheap prices. Police recommended that the Siem Reap market employ more night guards. Nokorwat

Cafe Eden in Battambang

This place is one of my favorite spots to grab a beer and chill out. This place is located on Street 1 in between 119th and 121th street. From 3 pm to 7 pm, happy hour is in effect so you can get a glass of ice cold beer for .50 cents. They also have a good selection of good coffee and a menu that can satisfy the most picky. The food is mostly western but that's what I like about it.  They have a breakfast menu, salad menu, sandwiches and great appetizers. So if your new to Battambang, don't forget to stop by here and enjoy the nice atmosphere. The upstairs area is air conditioned and since it's located on street #1, you get to see the busy people of Battambang go about their daily lives. The place offers free Wi-Fi and the person that runs this place is a nice women. Cafe Eden Contact: Tel: (053) 73 1525 Email: cafeedencambodia@gmail.com Website: www.cafeedencambodia.com

Gecko Cafe In Battambang

(Updated) The Gecko has moved to street #1 and is now called The Kitchen.   Food Gecko Cafe is located on the corner of Street 3 and 119. The place sits atop Gecko Moto's. I visit this place lot's of times during my stay in Battambang and when it comes to wanting a little western taste, this is one of my favorite spots. They serve good western food including burgers, pizza, salads and more. They also have Mexican food ranging from tacos to burritos and more. The Taco salad I had last was great and reminded me of home a little. Also, being in Cambodia, you can't forget about the Khmer dishes. I haven't tried alot of Khmer food here but I can say that the fried rice was good. They also serve some alcohol drinks. Besides being a little pricey for the locals, the money you pay for food here is well worth it. So enjoy! Service Another thing I like here is the service. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted by someone and  o
