Ponderous Moments In Battambang

I have been here going on a little over a year now and some things here in Cambodia still irks me of how some locals can act. For example, today I went to have a bite to eat at a friends food booth in Phar Thmey. I mean I am pretty use to the stares I get when wondering around Battambang, but I haven't really gotten use to the fact that some that are looking are paying a little to close attention to me which make me at times feel really uncomfortable. Well to make a long story short, after I had my meal, I asked the girl who I consider family because her parents helped me get to know Cambodia when I first arrived, give me ride to my house because I didn't want to walk. So since me being a guy, it would only be right for me to dub her and on the way back, she could ride back there alone. So as I'm driving off,  all the moto dubbs and some folks there starting hollering and whistling  at me and I had to ask the girl I was with what they were hollering about. She told me that it could be because they think me and her are seeing each other as in boyfriend and girlfriend and my only thought was "craziness!"

So the question is this. Why single me out, out of all those that are there to do something like this to me?

Another question is why are they even paying so much attention to me to the point that I feel like their watching my every move.

And another thing is that if I was seeing her ( to which I'm not) what concern should it be to them?

Call me paranoid or whatever, but I really think these type of acts are rude and uncivilized.  Till next time folks, enjoy your day! Please feel free to share your comments below.

Gecko Cafe In Battambang

(Updated) The Gecko has moved to street #1 and is now called The Kitchen.   Food Gecko Cafe is located on the corner of Street 3 and 119. The place sits atop Gecko Moto's. I visit this place lot's of times during my stay in Battambang and when it comes to wanting a little western taste, this is one of my favorite spots. They serve good western food including burgers, pizza, salads and more. They also have Mexican food ranging from tacos to burritos and more. The Taco salad I had last was great and reminded me of home a little. Also, being in Cambodia, you can't forget about the Khmer dishes. I haven't tried alot of Khmer food here but I can say that the fried rice was good. They also serve some alcohol drinks. Besides being a little pricey for the locals, the money you pay for food here is well worth it. So enjoy! Service Ano...

The White Rose in Battambang

The White Rose is Khmer owned and is located on the corner of St 121 and Road 2.5. This place serves good Khmer dishes for reasonable prices and some western foods. They also serve some of the best shakes in town. This place has a balcony, patio area which visitors can sit and watch the streets below where vendors sell their wares to those walking the streets. The White Rose also has a nice desert menu and ice cream that reminds me of home. This place also offers free Wi-Fi. Cleanness When the day starts of here, the place is set nice, with your typical glass, silver ware wrapped in cloth and set up nicely on the tables. I guess when this place gets real busy, the place starts looking neglected due to short of workers and the many things that are going on. To me, I think the place is under staffed and would probably run better if they were up to pace with workers. But besides that, everything else is typical Cambodia so if you don't mind that, then everything s...
