Police Blotter: 23 Jan 2013

I really like reading these police blotters. They give me a insight of what people should expect when they come to Cambodia. Honestly in my opinion, Cambodia has come a long way and I love being here. The experience is once and a life time and I suggest anyone liking to travel should make a pass through this Kingdom Of Wonder.

But like anywhere, Cambodia has it's downers. Crime is rampant because good wages are hard to find. Some would rather loot then work because of the pay off.  Some of the weirdest sights ivé beheld started here. Criminals are most daring here and by reading these blotters, it helps me to see what to watch for and what not to get into. So thanks to those who put it together for us to read.

Police Blotter: 23 Jan 2013

Celebrations from one wedding risk another
A bridegroom-to-be nearly had his wedding called off and his life cut short after a Monday traffic accident caused by a man driving home from, you guessed it, a wedding. Police said the 21-year-old who caused the accident had been in no condition to mount his moto following a wedding party but sped off anyway, colliding with the victim in the capital’s Dangkor district. The injury left the prospective groom unconscious and hospital bound, but the drunkard rode away relatively unscathed. Good news, though: police say the victim is expected to recover and keep his wedding date at the end of this month. Nokorwat

Suspiciously low price costs thief his freedom
Keeping up our wedding theme, a 41-year-old man was cuffed by Siem Reap cops on Sunday on suspicion of leaving a wedding party with a gift of his own: a stolen motorbike. Police said the man grabbed the bike at nuptials held in Preah Vihear before speeding off to Siem Reap to sell it. But his asking price was so low, it set off sus-picion among the villagers, who brought in the local constabulary. The man confessed, saying he was jobless and needed some quick cash. Kampuchea Thmey

Gunslingers get lucky, grab very valuable bag
A Sunday-morning pistol-whipping and $10,000 theft have capital cops hunting for a pair of thieves. Police said the duo showed up at a Daun Penh district phone shop posing as prospective customers when one of the two produced a pistol, smacked the 44-year-old owner in the head with it and grabbed her bag and necklace. As it turns out, the bag held not only her personal items, but a cool $10,000. Kampuchea Thmey

Not the night out Phnom Penh pair had hoped for
Two men are in a critical con-dition following a Sunday robbery in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district. Police said the duo had consumed about three litres of alcohol before heading out to meet up with their girlfriends for a stroll. While they were waiting, a group of six men emerged, beating them senseless with wooden sticks and taking their motorbike. The men were found unconscious at the scene and police are looking for the suspects. Koh Santepheap

Wanted drug dealer dealt a delayed defeat
News of a warrant for his arrest led a Poipet town drug dealer to skip town, but his flight from justice proved short-lived. Police said the 55-year-old, who had been serving as his neighborhood’s primary drug source for some time, had fled his home earlier this month and headed for Banteay Meanchey’s Malai district. Unfortunately for him, the local military identified his where-abouts, swooped in and sent him to court. Police are now looking for others connected to the case.Deum Ampil

Cafe Eden in Battambang

This place is one of my favorite spots to grab a beer and chill out. This place is located on Street 1 in between 119th and 121th street. From 3 pm to 7 pm, happy hour is in effect so you can get a glass of ice cold beer for .50 cents. They also have a good selection of good coffee and a menu that can satisfy the most picky. The food is mostly western but that's what I like about it.  They have a breakfast menu, salad menu, sandwiches and great appetizers. So if your new to Battambang, don't forget to stop by here and enjoy the nice atmosphere. The upstairs area is air conditioned and since it's located on street #1, you get to see the busy people of Battambang go about their daily lives. The place offers free Wi-Fi and the person that runs this place is a nice women. Cafe Eden Contact: Tel: (053) 73 1525 Email: cafeedencambodia@gmail.com Website: www.cafeedencambodia.com
