Many know out here that it doesn't take much to live. I can go with only spending less than 3 U.S. dollars here and be good. The problem I have is that there are many places here that make good money and you can tell by the nice cars that are starting to appear on the streets of Cambodia. A friend that's been living here for 20 years told me the other day that Cambodia is not a broke country. The money is just in the wrong hands making it hard for those looking for opportunity to find decent work to support their loved ones. Also sad is the fact that many that have jobs are getting paid next to nothing. Those that work have to work all day 7 days a week just to make $100.00 bucks and even though that might be a lot for some, the honest truth is that it's not even close.

This place is one of my favorite spots to grab a beer and chill out. This place is located on Street 1 in between 119th and 121th street. From 3 pm to 7 pm, happy hour is in effect so you can get a glass of ice cold beer for .50 cents. They also have a good selection of good coffee and a menu that can satisfy the most picky. The food is mostly western but that's what I like about it.  They have a breakfast menu, salad menu, sandwiches and great appetizers. So if your new to Battambang, don't forget to stop by here and enjoy the nice atmosphere. The upstairs area is air conditioned and since it's located on street #1, you get to see the busy people of Battambang go about their daily lives. With so many types of different places popping up in Battambang, there is no lack of finding whats right when it comes to food. Especially when your in a hurry and need something to get you to your next meal. The new Ry's Kitchen Food & lounge which is located on Rd No. 1.5 (check map) have been these delicious Grilled Cuban sandwiches for a few years now . Gecko Cafe In Battambang

                        (Updated) The Gecko has moved to street #1 and is now called The Kitchen.   Food Gecko Cafe is located on the corner of Street 3 and 119. The place sits atop Gecko Moto's. I visit this place lot's of times during my stay in Battambang and when it comes to wanting a little western taste, this is one of my favorite spots. They serve good western food including burgers, pizza, salads and more. They also have Mexican food ranging from tacos to burritos and more. The Taco salad I had last was great and reminded me of home a little. Also, being in Cambodia, you can't forget about the Khmer dishes. I haven't tried alot of Khmer food here but I can say that the fried rice was good. They also serve some alcohol drinks. Besides being a little pricey for the locals, the money you pay for food here is well worth it. So enjoy! Service Ano...
