Tourists triumph over couple of camera thiefs
Two robbers in Phnom Penh picked the wrong tourists to mess with on Tuesday. Police said the pair pounced when they found the foreigners wandering in Daun Penh district and attempted to steal their camera. Clearly not ones to be trifled with, the tourists quickly turned the tables on the dastardly duo, giving them a sound thrashing before holding them for police. The would-be camera snatchers are now awaiting a visit with the judge. Kampuchea Thmey

Police bust bunch of cockfight bettors
A string of cockfighting busts continued on Wednesday, this time with police swooping in on a Kampot town gathering of blood sport enthusiasts. When cops showed, the gathering of gamblers quickly turned into a pell-mell run for freedom, with several actually diving into the town’s river to escape. In the end, five men, including the owner of the venue, were in custody, along with a pair of motorbikes. Police have sent the quintet to court. Kampuchea Thmey

Neglect of helmet outs illegal pistol slinger
Driving without a helmet cost a man more than the usual 2,000 riel fine at a traffic stop last week. Police pulled over the 28-year-old at a checkpoint in the capital’s Meanchey district on a simple helmet violation – he wasn’t wearing one – only to find he was also packing heat. The cops quickly arrested the man, who they said had no license for the pistol in question. He has been sent to court for the violation. Koh Santepheap

Dopey dope-dealer duo caught by cops in raid
A pair of alleged drug dealers forgot the old adage “never get high on your own supply” on Tuesday as an evening of fun was spoiled by a police raid on a quiet area of Sen Sok district they used for testing their own product. Police, who scored a package of narcotics during the bust, said it was not the first time the duo have run afoul of the law, and sent them to court on drug-trafficking charges. Kampuchea Thmey

Father and daughter injured in hit-and-run
A vicious hit-and-run incident in Kampong Chhnang town left a father and daughter in serious condition this week. Police said the duo were riding home on a moto on Tuesday when a car crashed into them, leaving them with injuries that required hospitalisation. The car’s cowardly driver, however, took off in a bid to avoid responsibility. Police are now on the hunt for the man behind the wheel while the father and daughter continue their recovery. This Former Gang-Banger Is Banging Out Delicious Cubans in Cambodia

S ix years ago, Ry Mam boarded an international flight from LAX with three other Cambodians and two US marshals. “If any of you try to run, we’ll shoot you,” one of the marshals told the Cambodians. Mam thought that was strange—they were on an airplane and, anyway, he could have run a long time ago.

Gecko Cafe In Battambang

(Updated) The Gecko has moved to street #1 and is now called The Kitchen.   Food Gecko Cafe is located on the corner of Street 3 and 119. The place sits atop Gecko Moto's. I visit this place lot's of times during my stay in Battambang and when it comes to wanting a little western taste, this is one of my favorite spots. They serve good western food including burgers, pizza, salads and more. They also have Mexican food ranging from tacos to burritos and more. The Taco salad I had last was great and reminded me of home a little. Also, being in Cambodia, you can't forget about the Khmer dishes. I haven't tried alot of Khmer food here but I can say that the fried rice was good. They also serve some alcohol drinks. Besides being a little pricey for the locals, the money you pay for food here is well worth it. So enjoy! Service Another thing I like here is the service. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted by someone and  o
