Two robbers in Phnom Penh picked the wrong tourists to mess with on Tuesday. Police said the pair pounced when they found the foreigners wandering in Daun Penh district and attempted to steal their camera. Clearly not ones to be trifled with, the tourists quickly turned the tables on the dastardly duo, giving them a sound thrashing before holding them for police. A string of cockfighting busts continued on Wednesday, this time with police swooping in on a Kampot town gathering of blood sport enthusiasts. When cops showed, the gathering of gamblers quickly turned into a pell-mell run for freedom, with several actually diving into the town’s river to escape. Driving without a helmet cost a man more than the usual 2,000 riel fine at a traffic stop last week. Police pulled over the 28-year-old at a checkpoint in the capital’s Meanchey district on a simple helmet violation – he wasn’t wearing one – only to find he was also packing heat. A pair of alleged drug dealers forgot the old adage “never get high on your own supply” on Tuesday as an evening of fun was spoiled by a police raid on a quiet area of Sen Sok district they used for testing their own product. A vicious hit-and-run incident in Kampong Chhnang town left a father and daughter in serious condition this week. Police said the duo were riding home on a moto on Tuesday when a car crashed into them, leaving them with injuries that required hospitalisation.
