A quick-thinking tuk-tuk driver turned the tables on a pair of would-be bag snatchers in the wee hours of Monday morning, ending their shenanigans by using his own vehicle as a battering ram. The two villains, 18 and 19, made their move after the driver had picked up a pair of foreign fares at Phnom Penh International Airport. When the teens made their move, the female passenger resisted, giving our tuk-tuk hero the chance to turn his vehicle into the thugs and send them tumbling to the ground. A woman scorned was quick to confess to her part in a moto-theft scheme on Saturday after being collared by capital cops. Police said the 42-year-old and her lover, 29, had convinced a Russei Keo district man to let them “test drive” the motorbike he was selling for $1,400, with the woman sticking around as collateral. When it became apparent the loathsome Lothario wasn’t returning, she tried to escape, only to be stopped and turned over to police. A 2005 motorbike theft came back to haunt a Banteay Meanchey man on Monday as he was hauled into court on the seven-year-old charges. Police said the man, operating with two chums, had snatched the moto in November 2005, with the court finally issuing an arrest warrant for him in 2011. One of his fellow thieves had been arrested the day of the theft and later sentenced, while a third man remains on the run. Nokorwat

A father and son were badly injured on Friday when the son resisted an attempted mobile phone robbery and the father went to his aid. Police said that after the younger man, 22, was stabbed during a robbery in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district, his 47-year-old father gave chase to the suspect, only to be stabbed himself. Cement truck driver flees after road death
Police are searching for the family of a man tragically killed in a traffic accident on Monday in the capital’s Por Sen Chey district. The man, believed to be 30, was knocked from his moto when he collided with a bike, then killed instantly when run over by a cement truck. The driver fled the scene, leaving the truck to be taken into police custody. Police are asking for help to identify the body. Kampuchea Thmey
