A boss looking to share a friendly drink with the workers on his Pailin plantation got more than he bargained for on Thursday when loosened tongues began wagging about pay. Police said that after a few rounds, employees felt bold enough to ask for some money up front. After being denied, one of the workers left in a rage, only to return with a cleaver, which he used to hack his boss’s arms and legs. A pair of police officers on motorbikes suffered serious injuries last week when an overloaded beer truck careered into their path in Kampong Chhnang’s Rolea Ba’ier district. One of the two has since been moved from a provincial hospital to Phnom Penh because of the severity of his injuries. The driver fled the scene, and the truck has been impounded by police. Nokorwat

A Battambang drug delivery service is out of business after a Sunday raid in which police arrested its alleged mastermind. Cops said the 34-year-old entrepreneur had been offering either delivery or a comfortable place to use his products before the Sunday raid that led to his arrest. A 35-year-old woman is in critical condition after being viciously attacked by her ex-husband while napping in a hammock. Police said the recent divorcee’s ex, enraged by the news that a new suitor hoped to marry her, struck her three times in the head with a metal bar in Kampong Speu’s Phnom Sruoch district. A Takeo province construction worker couldn’t resist the temptation to heist a lonely- looking motorbike on Friday, but it turned out to be a short-lived gain. Police said the bike’s owner had walked 100 metres from the bike to inspect his rice field when the thief took the opportunity to hop on the bike and skedaddle.
